Required Qualifications: Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications: Prior hospital experience with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to checking, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding and all aspects of drug distribution such as ward stock, and narcotics.
2 years + experience in the last 5 years in pediatrics required.
2 years+ experience in the last 5 years in compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations.
Required to compound sterile and non-sterile preparations (including hazardous) and work with arms extended for sustained periods of time.
2 years + experience in the last 5 years in all aspects of Chemotherapy; including but not limited to receiving, embedded worksheet setup, recent certification for preparation, checking and medication distribution.
It is a requirement to be able to work with chemotherapy and/or hazardous drugs, work at our NICU Satellite at FMC, Rotary Flames House, Oncology Satellite and able to work all shifts including on-call duty (2245-0700).
Required to lift from 30-50 pounds, bending repetitively, push/pull carts. Repetitive wrist and hand movement required. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking.
Must have excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability.
Must be self-motivated and demonstrate an excellent customer service attitude.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications: Recent ACH experience.
Active membership with a pharmacy professional organization such as PTSA and/or CAPhO.
Preference given to individuals with recent pediatric and/or oncology experience along with current chemotherapy IV certification status.
Willow Ambulatory (WAM) experience will be viewed as an asset.
Investigational and Special Access Drugs knowledge.
Experience in a Clinical Deployed Technician role.
Prior experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
